Louie Meyer was the first 3 time winner (28, 33 and 36) He was the first to drink milk in Victory Lane (1936 and it was Buttermilk) and he started a family tradition of participating at the speedway that continues to this day.
The Meyer/Drake Offy dominated Indy for years. His son Sonny built 15 Indy winning engines over his career. His daughter Kay married George Bignotti who was chief Mechanic on 7 Indy winners.
Grandson Louis Meyer III (Butch) built engines with his Dad and the IRL championship winning engines in the 18 month 1996-97 season and 1999.
His great grandson Michael works for Sam Schmidt Racing today.
